봉화 축서사 석조비로자나불좌상 및 목조광배 奉化鷲棲寺 石造毘盧遮那佛坐像 및 木造光背 Seokjo Biro Janabul Jwasang and Mokjo Gwangbae at Chukseosa, Bonghwa 보물 제995호 이 불상은 1.08m 높이의 불상으로 가는 눈과, 꼭 다문 입, 반듯하고 넓은 신체에서 고요함과 안정감을 느낄 수 있다. 양 어깨에 걸쳐 입은 옷에는 주름이 평행하게 계단식으로 표현되어 다소 형식화되었음을 알 수 있다. 무릎 사이에 부채꼴 모양으로 넓게 퍼진 주름은 다른 불상들의 U자형과는 달리 물결무늬라는 점이 특이하다. 이는 평행 계단식 옷 주름과 함께 9세기 후반의 특징을 잘 보여 준다. 대좌(臺座)는 통일신칵 후기에 유행한 8각 대좌로 상·중·하대를 모두 갖추고 있다. 하대에는 각 면에 사자를 1구씩 새졌고, 중대에는 손을 모으고 있는 인물상을, 상대에는 꽃무늬를 재겨 넣었다. 현재 불상 뒤에는 나무로 만들어진 광배(光普)가 있으며 화려한 꽃무늬와 불꽃무늬가 새겨져 있다. 이것은 후대에 만들어진 것으로 원래 돌로 안들었던 광배는 현재 윗부분만 남아 있다. 이 불상은 통일신라 후기에 많이 만들어졌던 비로자나불상 가운데 하나로 대구 동화사 비로암 석조비로자나불좌상과 동일한 특징을 보여 주어 당시의 조각 수법과 신앙 형태를 알 수 있다. 석탑기(石塔記)가 있어 9세기 후반에 만들었다는 것이 밝혀졌으며, 통일신라 후기의 불상 연구의 매우 귀중한 자료로 평가되고 있다. Hanging Painting (Gwaebultaeng) is a large Buddha painting hanging in the front yard of the Buddha's Temple for memorial services or ceremonies It is painted with lots of beautiful colors on the ramie fabric which is called DokJonDo portraying the statue of Buddha facing the front and filled at the center. It is also drawn with some Nirmana-buddha and the image of Bodhisattva around the halo. The feature of the main Buddha's face is smooth, colorful and distinct to make the whole mood bright and cheerful Hoohyrungtong (small storage box), 2 Sa-ri (small crystals), some seed, 4 mystic Buddhist formulas and Guebulwonmun which was written in the historical record were found in the bok-jang pocket hanging under the picture. According to the Guebulwonmun, this painting was made by Monk Jung-il with 10 other people in Korea in 1768. The state of preservation of this painting is really good and it is considered a valuable work because of its stylish representation of people, design and the use of harmonized and splendid color. There are some sacred things such Sa-ri and Guebulwonmun which are hard to find in some other paintings in Bok-jang pocket.
