안동 도산서원, 경북 안동시 도산면

안동 도산서원, 경북 안동시 도산면 나그네의 안동 구석구석 여행 한국정신문화의수도 안동 안동 도산서원 열정 도산서당의 식수로 사용하던 우물로 역경(易經)의 정패 (화) 정렬한천식(長泉食) 에서 의미를 취하였다. 우물은 마을이 떠나도 옮겨가지도 못하고, 퍼내어도 줄지 않는다. 이처럼 무궁한 지식의 샘물을 두레박으로 하나하나 퍼내어 마시듯 자신의 부단한 노력으로 심신을 수양해야한다는 교훈을 주고 있다. 도산서당 陶山書堂 Dosan-seodang (Dosan Academy) 퇴계 선생께서 4년에 걸쳐 지으신 건물로 몸소 거처하시면서 제자들을 가르키던 곳이다. 거거하시던 방은 와곽재(玩樂齋)라 하였고, 마루는 암서헌(巖栖軒)이라하였다. Yi Hwang had built this building to use as his study and private school in 1557. However, his financial difficulties delayed the construction four years to finish. The room in which he pursued his learning is called 'Wanrakjae', and the floor on which he taught his students is called "Amseoheon'. 정우당 Jeongudang (Purifying Pond) 퇴계 선생은 꽃 중의 군자라는 연꽃을 심어 정우당이라 하였다. 연꽃은 진흙탕에 살면서도 몸을 더럽히지 아니하고, 속은 비고 줄기는 곧아 남을 의지하지 않으며, 향기는 멀수록 맑다. Yi Hwang with the pen name of Toegye planted lotuses, the best of flowers in the pond located at the south-eastern part of the front yard of Dosan-seodang (Dosan Academy). He named the pond Jeongudang after the symbolic meaning of lotuses. Lotuses live in the mud, but they are not dirty. Their insides are empty, but their stems are straight and independent. 광명실 光門室 Gwangmyeongsil 책을 보관하는 서고(書庫)로서 현판은 퇴계 선생의 친필이다. 동서 두 곳으로 나뉘어져 있으며 습해(源害)를 방지하기 위하여 누락식으로 지었다. 광명(光明)은 '많은 책이 서광(瑞光)을 비추어 준다.'는 뜻이다. These two building's Donggwangmyeongsil on the east side and Seogwangmyeong-sil on the west side, were used to safekeep books. These were built high above the ground to keep off humidity. The Chinese letters, HH(Gwangmyeongsil) on the hanging board, were written by Yi Hwang himself. "Gwangmyeong' means that books give us hope and prospects. 고직사 庫直舍 Gojiksa (The Caretakers' Quarters) 서원을 관리하는 수호인(守護人)들의 살림집으로 상·하에 고직사가 있다. These are the quarters for the caretakers of the seowon. 동서재 東西齋 Bakyakjae & Honguijae (The Dormitory) 도산서원의 유생들이 거처하면서 공부하던 건물이다. 서로 마주보고 있으며 동편 건물을 '박약재(博白意)라 하고, 서편 '홍의재(毅齋)라 한다. Bakyakjae building on the east side and Honguijae building on the west sused as dormitory and study room for students. 역락서재 Veokrakseojae (The Dormitory) 퇴계 선생께서 도산서당에서 학문을 강론할 때 정사성(鄭士誠: 芝軒/號)을 비롯한 제자들이 힘을 모아 세웠다. 현판의 글씨는 퇴계 선생의 친필이다. When Toegye taught in Dosan-seodang, Jeong Sa-seong(pen name:Jiheon) and other disciples built this building. The Chinese characters on the hanging board were written by Toegye himself. 천연대 Cheonyeondae(Sky-Pond Viewing Place) 퇴계 선생께서 자연의 이치를 체득하고 심성수양을 위해 산책하시던 곳이다. 시경(詩經) 중의 하늘에는 솔개가 날고 물에는 물고기가 뛰어 든다. (연비려천 어약우연 : 意飛民天 魚躍于淵)에서 인용하여 천연대라 이름하였다. This is the place where Yi Hwang with the pen name of Toegye took a walk in order to realize the principle of nature and disci-pline himself spiritually.
