안동 봉정사 영산암, 경북 안동시 서후면

안동 봉정사 영산암, 경북 안동시 서후면 나그네의 안동 구석구석 여행 한국정신문화의수도 안동 영산암은 영화 '달마가 동쪽으로 간 까닭'을 촬영한 곳으로 유명한 암자이다. 6동의 크고 작은 건물들이 ''로 건물이 배치되어 중정의 바위와 소나무등 공간이 주는 아름다움과 다양한 표정으로 보여주는 안마당은 암자의 일상의 편안함을 보여주는 미학이 깃든 곳이다. Famous as a filming location for the internationally acclaimed movie Why Has Bodhi-Dharma Left for The East? (1989), Yeongsanam Hermitage consists of a few buildings arranged in a square layout with a garden at the center. The central courtyard containing a rock and a few pine trees creates a comfortable, serene atmosphere, representing the ascetic way of life of the monks who retreat to the hermitage. 영산암은 봉정사 동쪽 약 100m 떨어진 곳에 있는 나한전으로 염화실, 송암당, 삼성각, 우화루, 관심당 등 5개동으로 이루어져 있다. 건물의 구체적인 연대는 알 수 없으나 여러 사료로 볼 때 19세기 말에 건립된 것으로 추정된다. 건물은 전체적으로 'ㅁ'자형으로 사찰의 전통적, 기본적인 구조이며 지형의 높이를이용한 3단의 마당 구성과 우화루의 벽체를 없애고 송암당과 누마루로 연결하여 공간의 활용도를 높인 배려가 돋보인다. 또 우화루와 송암당의 구조미와 삼성각 앞에 펼쳐놓은 자연미는 우리 고건축의 아름다움을 극적으로 표현하고 있다. 우화루라는 이름은 석가모니가 영축산에서 법화경을 처음 설법하셨을 때 하늘에서 꽃비가 내렸다고 한 것에서 유래한 것이다. Yeongsanam is an affiliated hermitage of Bongjeongsa Temple. It is located 100 m to the east of the temple, consisting of five buildings, Yeomhwasil House, Songamdang Hall, Samseongak Shrine, Uhwaru Pavilion, and Gwansimdang Hall, dedicated to arhats. The hermitage consists of five buildings which are presumed to have been built in the late 19th century. The buildings are arranged in a square layout, which is typical of a Buddhist temple. The main gate to this hermitage is called "Uhwaru (PET)," literally meaning "pavilion of flower rain."
